Definition and Usage

The HTML <a> (an anchor) tag creates a hyperlink (link) to files, emails, telephone numbers, SMS messages, a section of a web page being viewed, web pages on the same or external website via its href attribute. Here are some of the known and less known attributes of the anchor tag.
